Local Information for West End

West End is an under utilized portion of Oxford Street, and many do not feel it matches the worlwide popularity of Oxford Street as a whole. Government and residents agree that West End could be a vital part of the city, but requires focus and a long term plan to get there. This exciting project was just in July of 2007 when an Area Action Plan was presented, and requested work to begin by the end of the year.

The plans include rejuvenation of the areas gardens and green spaces, renovation of some of the older buildings and homes, and safer streets to prevent crime. Just by driving through, it is apparent that West End is rich with history and culture and needs a major facelift to blend in with the rest of affluent Oxford Street.

Currently, residents of West End are primarily transient but the action plan includes detailed guidelines on how to better serve current and future residents. One plus is that parking of your car is readily available, especially when visiting busy Oxford Street. It is suggested that you do so the quieter late evening periods until improvements are made.
