Local Information for New Cross
New Cross is located on the north tip of the London Borough of Lewisham and was originally known as Hatcham. Up until the late nineteenth century,the area was known as the New Cross Tangle because many railway lines, workshops and two stations which were both known simply as New Cross. The name stuck and is now the official moniker of the town formerly known as Hatchem.
Today, the town is home to the Royal Naval School which was first established in 1843 as part of the rich maritime history. On the other end of the spectrum, The Venue nightclub is a famous hotspot in New Cross and is one of many forms of entertainment.
