The Mediterranean magnificence of Malta offers a cultured and inspirational holiday experience like no other. Visit thought-provoking landmarks and historical wonders in a restful atmosphere, created by welcoming locals and a balmy climate. Choose James Villas to make your holiday a perfect one with their outstanding villas and resorts – handpicked to cater for couples, families and friends.

At the centre of the Mediterranean lies the beautiful island of Malta, renowned for its historical baroque sights and buildings. Saturated with culture, start off by visiting the prominent building of St. John’s Cathedral in the capital of Valetta, built by the Knights of Malta during the 16th century. Next, head to the Catacombs of St. Paul, which is the earliest archaeological site of Malta – a highly popular site amongst tourists. Mdina is also a must-visit place, and is more commonly known as a medieval, walled ‘silent city’. The old capital of Malta is situated on a hill in the centre of the island, encased by the historic wall, which beautifully preserves it. Explore Valetta’s narrow colonial streets which ooze history – little pieces of culture is available in quirky shops, so be sure to take some home with you as a souvenir.

Malta also offers a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life – Ghadira Bay in Mellieha, 45 minutes from the capital offers a beautiful popular Maltese beach to grab an umbrella and relax under. Shallow, calm waters make this spot ideal for families, plus gentle water sports, such as parasailing are provided here. Snorkelling is ideal at Paradise Bay, just a few minutes away from Ghadira Bay, and also highly popular. Witness the vibrant red-hued sands of Gozo’s Ramla Bay; partake in water sports and take advantage of the local cafés and snack bars.

Maltese cuisine caters for a wide range of tastes; however, is most commonly associated with Sicilian and Northern African dishes. Local produce such as its vegetables and seafood makes a popular dish. Rich pastries, pastas and desserts are also to be enjoyed whilst dining in a cool courtyard located on the cobble streets of Valetta. Village markets also provide fresh foods for snacking on, and local bars offer fine wines and beers to be sipped on in the warm climate.

Where will you choose to stay though? James Villas offer cheap Maltese resorts and villas, mainly located in Mellieha – typically a stones-throw away from beautiful beaches. St Maria is a popular choice, known for its private villas overlooking amazing views of the bay. Whatever your choice, James Villa Holidays will ensure your holiday experience will always be one to remember.
