Burgh Heath is located in the Surrey Borough of Reigate and Banstead, and is located on the busy dual carriageway of the A217. This has meant there are now two parts to Burgh Heath: the larger one to the east, and the western part (known as The Green), close to the ponds. The housing area is bounded to the south by Burgh Heath itself, and Burgh Heath is part of the Banstead Commons (the other three parts are Banstead Heath, Banstead Downs and Park Downs). To the east and north, Burgh Heath (the town) is bounded by farming land, which leads to Banstead Woods.

The ponds are the dominant natural feature of Burgh Heath (the heath part, not the residential part). And they are home to many interesting and diverse flora and fauna, including water fowl and dragonflies. Burgh Heath pond once had many fish, but several years ago they were removed due to the impact the fishermen had on the area.

Burgh Heath is 78 acres, and criss-crossed by the A217 and A240, and being bordered by high density residential areas, it sees a lot of foot traffic. At the intersection of the A217 and A240 is a large Shell petrol station which dominates the landscape.
