The digital switchover, are you ready?

Did you know that within five years the older analogue signal will be turned off. Yes thats right no more telly! Okay so its not that bad, tv will still exist as sure as death and taxes. It does now mean that if you dont have a digital tv or a digital set top box you will not longer get a tv signal (known as analogue). So what does that mean? Well it means you will need to buy a set top box for every tv in your house or a more modern television with built in digital receiver.

The day analog died

The digital revolution has already begun, it started on the 17th October 2007, tv signals are now, region by region being turned off, and will be replaced with digital. On the upside its a good opportunity to buy a new lcd or plasma television. Practically all of them have digital receivers built into them, so you dont have another ugly box sitting under the tv. You also get a lot more freeview channels without subscribing to any additional service.
