With the sales slowing in the United States, 3M has announced that they will be cutting more than the 300 jobs that they announced in July. The company will be eliminating hundreds of jobs in the United States during the upcoming months as they reevaluate their business needs amid the dismal economy of the country, according to officials.

3M Company said on Thursday, July 17th, that they will be cutting 300 jobs from their graphics and display division as sales numbers continue to drop for the optical films that they use in flat-screen computer monitors and televisions. The eliminated jobs, where most of them are in the United States, cut about 20% of the staff for optical films, the company says, which is based in Maplewood, as the sales of optical film dropped during the 2nd quarter by 36%.
