ASDA Criticized Over Inappropriate Disney Underwear
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008ASDA, the supermarket chain, is being criticized for the sale of sexually suggestive underwear for girls. The underwear, which is for girls of around the age of 7, is to promote High School Musical, the popular Disney movie, and have the words Dive In on the front. This phrase is in reference to a part of the movie where the characters are diving into a pool. However, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, as well as the National Union of Teachers, have criticized the knickers, marking them as inappropriate. A National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children spokesman said that this is a part of a concerning trend of inappropriate clothes that is marketed to young children.
